DTCC Transformation Program
July 2026
DTCC's multi-year modernization — spanning ISO 20022, settlement simplification, cloud migration, and digital asset readiness — is underway, with major milestones through Q4 2027. The biggest risk for broker-dealers, banks, custodians, and asset managers isn't the technology itself; it's the downstream systems and processes that may not be ready. Botsford Associates helps financial institutions assess impacts, define requirements, and execute across every phase of the transformation.
FinCEN AML Program Modernization Proposal
June 2026
FinCEN’s proposed AML/CFT modernization rule marks a shift from checkbox compliance to measurable effectiveness. Regulators are increasingly focused on whether AML controls actually work—not just whether processes are followed.
Our white paper explores key changes, including enhanced risk assessments, risk-based resource allocation, SAR effectiveness, governance, operationalization of AML/CFT priorities, and the growing role of analytics, automation, and AI.

Harmonizing Derivatives Error Reporting
April 2026
Recent updates from the CFTC and CSA are reshaping how firms approach derivatives reporting errors. With the introduction of materiality thresholds, relief on historical corrections, and clearer guidance on what constitutes a “significant” error, regulators are signaling a shift toward pragmatic, risk-based reporting. We break down these changes and what they mean in practice, including: New 5% (CFTC) and 10% (CSA) error thresholds, Relief on “dead swaps” and limitations on historical remediation, and Key operational differences firms must manage across jurisdictions.
Post Merger Integration (PMI)
"Day 1 Readiness" is no longer enough. The biggest risk to banking and financial mergers isn't regulatory approval—it's operational drift. When you treat integration like a giant checklist, value gets buried under thousands of low-priority tasks.
We take a "Value-First" approach to PMI:
✅ We don't do equal priorities. - We rank initiatives by their impact on value.
✅ We don't just "retain." - We re-architect human talent by aligning the institutional knowledge with their future career trajectory.
✅ We don't just "plan." - We engineer a Rapid Integration Engine that ensures global regulatory compliance with near zero breaks.
The goal isn't just to survive the first 100 days—it's to hit Day 101 with VALUE.

The Golden Source: A CDM Approach to Derivatives
February 2026
We explore how firms can move from fragmented, proprietary data models to a machine-executable, industry-aligned “golden source” using the ISDA Common Domain Model (CDM), through a practical migration roadmap—from mapping legacy models to CDM, to embedding CDM directly into post-trade and upstream booking systems—showing how standardization reduces downstream fixes, improves auditability, and unlocks automation across reporting, risk, and collateral.

Our latest white paper, Regulatory Trade Reporting Controls & Best Practices, outlines a practical, end-to-end control framework across the full reporting pipeline.
